ICT

Technology

The state of the art computer room currently contains 30 new computers which are running Windows 7.  Each class uses the computer room for at least one hour per week with their classroom teacher. Students use various programs to enhance their learning.

Each classroom has its own computers which run similar software that is used in the computer room. Each classroom has a Smartboard which is used throughout the day.

The school is networked via a communications room and the wireless network.

iPads and Pedagogy

Students at Narrabeen Lakes have access to iPads from kindergarten to year 6. With wi-fi accessible throughout the school, students are able to take learning into their hands in new and exciting ways. The creation of digital posters, movies, songs, blogs and artwork are happening in and out of our classrooms. With a strong commitment to harnessing technology for education, the staff at Narrabeen Lakes provide their students with the opportunity and tools to be 21st century learners. Rather than simply using iPads as a substitute for existing learning, we aim to give students opportunities to use iPads to redefine the way that learning takes place. Students have opportunities to collaborate, discover and create so that the classroom is only one of many learning environments.
