The aim of the library program is to assist students to become informed decision-makers and life-long learners. To achieve this goal, teachers, the librarian and the computer coordinator co-operate to plan and implement units of study as teaching partners. These units integrate those skills necessary to locate, evaluate, organise and present information from a variety of sources.
Emphasis is placed on language improvement and enjoyment and the promotion of voluntary reading.
The library is well resourced, attractive and busy. The library is connected to the school computer network. There are also several computers distributed throughout the library for student use. Together these computers provide access to a large selection of databases and software. The library also provides internet and printer access.
The library houses a large print and multi-media collection. Selection of resources for the library is done in conjunction with KLA (Key Learning Areas) leaders, classroom teachers and students. The primary criteria for selection being the relevance of resources to the school's curriculum and the needs of users. At present the focus is for collection development centres in providing class resources for recently released English and HSIE (Human Society and its Environment) syllabuses.
